Massage While Sick and During This Uncertain Time

With the current healthcare crisis sweeping the globe, I feel it is important to address this issue from a couple of different perspectives.

Firstly, if you’re just starting a cold, flu, or have a sore throat, skipping your massage appointment is the best thing you can do.

Massage isn’t going to help you get better if you’re just starting to feel under the weather.


When you have an infection, your body is already working hard to fight it and recover. A massage can be very stimulating, and it places demands on your body when you should be resting.

I received a massage when I was feeling slightly under the weather once. And sure enough, I felt a cold coming on immediately after the session.

Often times we feel a little congested with our head in that position even when we aren’t sick.

So if you have a cold, lying face down for thirty minutes or longer will definitely make you feel worse.

From the perspective of this COVID-19, there is no amount of sanitization that will prevent this virus from spreading.
